We were picked up at 7.30am and he adapted the tour to our needs throughout the day, starting with breakfast... read more and a beautiful mountain view; finishing with a very delicious lunch around 2.30pm, at his traditional home. This is a unique window into a beautiful part of the countryside and local community which is still almost untouched by modern life.

We stopped off to meet a beautiful local family who kept beas, pigs etc and had a lovely chat and delicious tea. Later on, we watched a cremation ceremony which was totally fascinating. This is a great cycling opportunity in a lush countryside setting and a perfect day out. An exciting day out in magical Ubud ✨️

Visiting different Banjar and the explanation how banjars are formed. We were impressed bij the honeyfarmer.

  Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 adult-sized teens - all regular cyclists) recently did a downhill bike tour with Putu at Rosala Bali. We were unsure at... read more the start as it was arranged by our guesthouse and we didn’t have a chance to check reviews, but we all really enjoyed our day. We were picked up from our place outside of Ubud at around 8:30am by Putu and his driver and taken to a coffee plantation for a box breakfast (we might have spent more time there checking out the variety of plants on display but we had been to the place on a separate tour a couple of days earlier). Our recommendation there would be to shift to less plastic packaging in the breakfast & to have another option for people like us who had already been to the coffee plantation.
From there, it didn’t take long for us to get to the starting point on Mount Batul. We were well equipped with reliable bikes and helmets. We were pleasantly surprised to find our time on main roads was minimal after getting to our turn off into more rural areas - this meant the van wasn’t constantly behind us, only meeting us at the end. We didn’t need it for support as we went along and were able to bike along narrow rural pathways. We enjoyed biking through smaller villages and scenic rice paddies, having a short visit at a village bee farm (no hard sell of honey/products was appreciated) and the chance to interact with lovely local people along the way. Putu lead us at a good pace and was fountain of knowledge along our travels. He was quick to answer our questions and stop at our request for photo taking, etc. Although we had the option to ride in the van at the end of our first 29 km of mostly easy downhill riding, we opted to bike a bit uphill for the final couple of kilometres to Putu’s home. Here we enjoyed one of the most amazing meals of traditional Balinese food (buffet style prepared by Putu’s mother). Everything was fresh and delicious and we all ate our fill before taken back to our guest house.

We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Rosala Bali Down Cycling Tour. Putu was very accommodating and I’m sure he would have adapted the trip if we had needed.
